Flor de Calabasa Quesadilla

Walking around last week in Mexico City I thought I’d try out this restaurant, apparently part of a chain. Located across the street from el Palacio de Bellas Artes, I reckoned it had to be at least decent to afford the rent.

Flor de calabasa means squash blossom and the flavor is herbal and slightly sweet.

The guacamole I ordered was served in a little crock with chips already stuck in it. There was a spicy red salsa and a slightly milder green salsa placed on the table. My drink was an agua fresca with pineapple juice and hierbabuena which I later discovered was spearmint. I spoke Spanish the whole time I was in Mexico City, but some servers spoke English to me and confused me momentarily.

I liked this place and I would recommend it.
